![]() ![]() Really, your manpower should only be an issue in large wars (i.e. If you stick to those rules early game, you shouldn't have any manpower issues. It's great to conserve your manpower, keep your "allies" weak enough so they don't expand too much themselves, and of course, win the war. The AI can often be tricked into doing this - just have them arrive in the province with enemy troops one day before you, and their forces will take almost all of the losses. ![]() Let them lead the charge so your troops flank and take minimum losses. Likewise, when going to war with other nations, try to have your vassals and/or allies do most of the fighting. This will make a HUGE difference in terms of lost manpower. If they spawn on the other province, let them siege it down and attack you instead. If more than one province has the risk of spawning the rebels, choose the province with the best defensive bonuses. Also, should the rebels pop, try to position your own troops on the provinces most likely to rise up - you'll get defensive bonuses that way. If you play your cards right, you won't have to face any revolts whatsoever early game: raise the autonomy in affected provinces assign them to the clergy consider harsh treatment if there is no other way. Know that rebel stacks will often be around the size of your force limit, and separatists, religious zealots or pretenders often have strong forces and a half-decent general. Honestly even with all the manpower recovery modifiers in the game, you have to find the balance of conserving your manpower early game (or with smaller nations all the way through mid-game). TLDR: What manpower recovery modifiers are there? Unless I'm a moron and can't read (entirely possible), the wiki doesn't offer a comprehensive list. I already have loyal and influential nobles helping with it, but it's not nearly enough.Īlso, I already chosen my second idea group and I'm not very close to enabling the third slot any time soon, so military ideas are out of the picture. I looked through the wiki but I can't spot any interesting modifier I could try to grab to speed it up. If any war comes up in the meantime, oh boy. In the end I hired mercenaries and slaughtered the rebels, and the unrest situation is now fine, with +3 stability and a much higher religious unity, but my manpower is completely depleted, army reinforce rate is therefore extremely slow, and according to napkin-calculations, it would take about 15 years to replenish the manpower to maximum. I struggled with the Portugese stack because I lost the fist battle (I underestimated them), which led to a second defeat, and my manpower was already low enough. My problem is that I drained my manpower fighting off rebels of any kind: I had the Castilian Civil War war disaster, a trainload of Portugese independentists, and tons of medium-sized north-african rebels. In my current game as Castile, I never lost a war and I have direct control of the whole Iberian peninsula, half of the Maghreb (territories) and my colonies in Brazil are growing fast, 5 of them are already self-sufficient and I have four settlers working on new ones.
